The active ingredient of 3-Nitro, roxarsone, is an organic arsenical and has been safely used for more than 5 decades to effectively improve the health and productivity of swine.

Roxarsone is an organic compound containing 1 atom of arsenic, a characteristic that often triggers confusion since arsenic is commonly associated with poisons. However, the arsenic in poisons is inorganic, whereas the arsenic in roxarsone is organically bound. Organic  compounds always contain carbon, while inorganic compounds do not. This seemingly subtle difference is why roxarsone is safe for producers, production animals, consumers, and the environment.

3-Nitro continues to be a valuable tool for enhancing the health and production efficiency of
swine, without the risk of cross-resistance with human medications.
